Beautiful Pier 39 in San Francisco with food & activity

The Pier 39 in San Francisco is located in Fisherman's wharf. You can get there by F - Market Tramway. We stopped there by chance, walking along the Embarcadero. After getting off the ferry that brought us back from Alcatraz ,  we thought we would have lunch. Arrived at Pier 39, we understood that it was the perfect place! Certainly, it is a tourist place. But it's still nice, and perfect if you're traveling with children.

Here you will find shops, restaurants, the Center for Marine Mammals, the Aquarium of the Bay , a video games area, a carousel. Especially follow the signs to "sea lions" if you want to see the lions of sea lazing in the marina. Anyway, the closer you get, the more you can spot the noise they make.

This kind of "amusement park" jetty can be found in several cities in the United States. That of San Francisco, Pier 39 , is perhaps the most famous of all. Hypra-tourist, it is not that either, and remains a quasi-obligatory passage of a stay in San Francisco. If the main attraction is the seal colony that is located on Pier K, there is plenty to do and you can easily spend half a day there.

Pier 39 is the starting point for several cruises (the Bay and the Rocketboat speedboat, among others), there are restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, rides for children, attractions, the bay's aquarium, musical stairs that play the music of the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks, high street artists. And of course various events. Not to mention the views of the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz. The Pier 39 was built in 1977 , and opened to the public in 1978. From the start, there was this animation will "amusement park". Some early businesses are still there. At night, the pier lights with lots of small lights, it's very nice.
